Orthodontic treatment is diagnosed for patients with an unbalanced bite, which can be either a medical or purely aesthetic problem. The most effective resolution for these inequalities can be achieved with the assistance of braces. External steel fixed braces are the most widely used method of orthodontic treatment, there is also the option of ceramic brackets which can provide greater aesthetics. Also “Incognito” braces which are placed on the inner side of the teeth or special invisible braces, Invisalign, made from transparent foil.
Classic external fixed braces are made of steel or ceramic brackets and a thin bonding wire. The brackets are firmly attached to the outside of the teeth and wire is gradually tightened to produce the desired form of an aligned dental arc.
Among the most common problems that are solved by the placement of the braces are underbite, cross or open bite, misaligned and crooked teeth or various defects of jaws.
Orthodontic treatment is individual and varies from case to case, most of the time, however, the patient has braces for one to two years.
